As a matter of fact, the walkouts are very underrated exercises. They teach your abs and low back muscles to play well together. They also develop strength and stability in the shoulders while creating a “metabolic change” like no other.

 

How to do it?

1.Stand and keep your feet hip-width away from each other. Bend forward and put your hands on the ground. Place them just in front of your feet.
2.Switch weight to your hands and start walking them out in the forward direction.
3. Repeat this until your hands are underneath your head.

How to do it?

1.Face the suspension trainers sitting in low position.

  1. Cross your legs and place them in the loops. Turn to your right and put your hands on the floor. Make sure they are a shoulder width apart.

3.Turn and kneel on your hands and knees. Reposition hands to form a square with the straps.

  1. Put your arms straight and raise your up. Keep one leg straight and the knee pointing down.
  2. Alternate the positions of legs. Repeat.

It affects muscles like deltoids, biceps, triceps,  hip adductors and abductors, etc.

When you are holding the weight at chest height, you are forcing your core to work harder. This is to stabilize your body. You are also not limited by the strength of your grip.

You will automatically correct your form yourself. This is a self limiting exercise. (Well, you have to. Otherwise you might fall flat on your face.)

How to do it?

1.Hold a goblet/kettlebell close to your chest.
2.Until you get the hamstrings on your calves, squat between your legs.
3.Push your knees out using your elbows.

What areas does it affect?

It affects quadriceps, hamstrings etc.

  1. JUMP SQUATS

These are favorite from school time. This is one exercise that gets over prescribed always, by weird military-like boot camp trainers.

However, if you plan your jump squats strategically, you can boost your fitness. This will also strengthen the lower part of your body. It doesn’t destroy your joints.

How to do it?
1.Start with a regular squat. Jump explosively to involve your core.
2.While landing, take the squat position. This completes one rep.
3.Repeat the reps as required.

It affects areas like the core, glute etc.

Do not worry if you cannot jump. You can instead try the total body extension. Do not underestimate this exercise. It might not look great but you will hit your core, glutes and feel the burn in your lungs –all at once.

When you do a single rep, you hit many muscle groups all at once. You drastically speed up your calorie burning process. It will also boost your metabolism for a long time after your workout.

How to do it?
1.Bend your elbows and hold the weights in front of your shoulders
2. Bring your thighs parallel to the floor and move the hips in 2 seconds.
3. Push your back up. Until your arms are straight push the dumbbells straight up.

4.As you descend your squat, lower your dumbbells.

What areas does it affect?

It affects the lower body, core and the upper body.


Always remember, when you do a movement that involves lifting overhead, you immediately use your core to stabilize. That is a reason why you can burn so many calories in no time flat.
